Maintenance Worker

University of Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time staff position of maintenance worker for the Facilities & Operations Department. Deadline to apply is May 20, 2016.

Position Description

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the facility’s structure, equipment and grounds. This is includes, but not limited to, performing general maintenance as needed such as painting, plumbing, troubleshooting, repairs (equipment, walls, etc.), construction, moving furniture, and physical inspections of campus. All work is to be done in accordance with all regulatory guidelines and University policies and procedures.


Physical demands of this position include, but not limited to, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, and squatting. These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Multiple environments – Classroom, moderate noise, office, outdoors.
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending and squatting to reach difficult to reach areas.
  • Occasionally works with and around hazardous chemicals and waste.
  • Occasional exposure to voltages from low voltage to 480V.
Must be able to follow all Environmental Health and Safety procedures and understand the impact of position on safety and environment. Must understand consequences of failure to follow operational and EHS procedures. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. Required to report directly to Supervisor.


Typically requires a minimum of 2-4 years of related experience. High School degree or GED required.
